Selling
Baran is a specialist auction house for Iranian and Islamic art. Works are chosen for their quality and for collector interest, offered at a base price agreed with you, shown for three days and sold on the evening of the fourth.
Why Baran
Baran began as a specialist auction to promote art rooted in Iranian and Islamic values, and to show the part art can play in cultural and economic life.
It draws on accepted international practice and on research into the art market, and works with specialist institutions, so that every sale serves both the work and its owner.

Collectors and institutions approached directly, at a price agreed in advance.
Four stages, each set out in the conditions of sale.
Your work is chosen on its quality and on collector interest, and offered at a base price agreed with you.
Clause 1Each work carries a low and a high estimate. With your consent a reserve is set below the estimate; without one, the work may sell at or above the low estimate.
Clause 12Three days on public view, then offered on the fourth evening. The hammer falls on the highest bid, which binds the buyer.
Clause 13The agreed commission is deducted and the balance paid once the buyer has paid, between 35 days and six months after the sale.
Clause 16Send photographs and a short description; a specialist replies within two working days.

The commission agreed in your contract is deducted from the sale price; the auctioneer acts only as your agent.
Two per cent of the final sale price covers keeping, moving and insuring the work.
You cover the costs in clause 18 and any restoration or framing. Baran may replace or choose the frame.
Legal charges, taxes and deductions arising from the sale are borne by the buyer or the seller, not the auctioneer.
If three official experts find a work is not authentic, it is returned to you and you are liable for the resulting costs.
Until it is sold, Baran may withdraw a work if it has doubts about its authenticity, ownership or the information given.
